Job Title: Desktop Support Specialist


Provides tier 2 support to company employees to resolve computer software and hardware problems.  Provides routine analysis and problem solving of network, PC software, hardware or peripherals.  Contacts and coordinates with hardware or software vendors for service if necessary.



Maintains, analyzes, troubleshoots, and repairs computer systems, hardware and computer peripherals
Supports and maintains user account information including rights, security and systems groups.
Administers and maintains the office email, data back-ups, network and other IT related items and production tools
Monitors back-ups in the office to ensure that they are completed on a regular basis
Responsible for the IT portion of new office setups, office expansions, etc.  This includes installation of data communications solutions, LAN and PC / laptop equipment
Supports the Windows production server environment including security scanning, systems patches, upgrades, backups and disaster recovery
Maintains the Cloud-based services, including Office 365
Provides new hires with PC / account setup and orientation
Maintains all documentation related to processes, procedures and assignments. May be required to create work instructions for the use of the entire team.
Administration of departmental audits

Associate’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent technical training and 5 years of desktop support experience including troubleshooting and root cause analysis or an equivalent combination of education and experience.  Excellent customer service skills with the ability to lift heavy equipment (PCs, monitors, printers) and use hand tools.


Thorough knowledge of current Microsoft Windows operating systems
Knowledge of Active Directory
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suites, including but not limited to Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
Working knowledge of networking technologies such as Ethernet, switches, computer hardware and software
Experience in automated help desk management systems
Proficient at multi-tasking with excellent keyboard skills
Strong communication and customer service skills required
Excellent problem solving-skills.

Typically work is in an office environment where the noise level is low to moderate
Requires standing and/or sitting for prolonged periods of time
Ability to lift boxes/materials weighing up to 10 lbs
Requires telephone work and/or computer work, as well as interactions with other employees and customers
