SUMMARY

Performs a variety of complex general accounting activities, including preparing, maintaining and reconciling ledger accounts and financial statements, such as balance sheets, profit-and-loss statements and capital expenditure schedules.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

·         Provides company owned Distribution Centers with accounting guidance, financial reporting, training and any tools or resources needed to manage the business from a financial perspective.

·         Serves as the primary point of contact for accounting activities.  Oversees and analyses financial transactions to ensure compliance with corporate policies and procedures.

·         Collects, compiles, verifies, and analyzes financial information and prepares financial reports and accounting statements to ensure management has accurate and timely information to make financial decisions.

·         Reconciles accounts, post journal entries, and maintains the general ledger in accordance with accounting principles and reporting schedules. Checks the accuracy of journal entries to ensure that the general ledger is accurate and complete.

·         Prepares monthly and quarterly variance analysis and fluctuation analysis for general ledger accounts to ensure account balances are correctly stated.

·         Prepares and manages the monthly and year-end closing process.

·         Provides financial support including forecasting, budgeting, and analyzing variations from budget.

·         Coaches less experienced accounting staff and helps them resolve problems.

·         Serves as a super user for the Dynamics Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) System.

·         Trains Distribution Center accounting resources on the proper use of the ERP system and system updates.

·         Travels to the Distribution Centers as needed.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting

5  years of accounting experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Strong ERP experience is required. Dynamics experience is strongly preferred.

Prior experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

·         Strong knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP)

·         Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and accuracy

·         Proficient in  Microsoft Office;  Advanced skills in Excel (pivot tables, V look-ups, etc)

·         Excellent verbal and written communication skills

·         Experience with an ERP system

·         Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with others

·         Ability to travel and serve as resource for internal customers

·         Results orientation with a strong sense of urgency

DECISION MAKING

Solves complex problems; takes a new perspective using existing solutions. Works independently; receives minimal guidance. Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience.

PHYSCIAL REQUIREMENTS

Manufacturing:

·         Works predominantly on the manufacturing floor. May be exposed to heat, electrical and mechanical hazards, noise, solvents, dust, dirt, fumes, contaminants, cold, noise, vibration, etc.

·         Climbing, stooping, kneeling, lifting, pulling, pushing and ability to move material weighing up to 40 lbs

·         Ability to perform basic preventive maintenance tasks on tools and equipment

·         Ability to use of hand tools, power tools, gas torches and measuring instruments

·         Ability to read blueprints, technical manuals and use measuring equipment

·         Requires standing for prolonged periods of time

·         Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination

·         Must be able to walk and use hands

·         Ability to read, write, listen and speak

Non-Manufacturing:

·         Typically work is in an office environment where the noise level is low to moderate

·         Requires standing and/or sitting for prolonged periods of time

·         Ability to lift boxes/materials weighing up to 10 lbs

·         Requires telephone work and/or computer work, as well as interactions with other employees and customers

·         Ability to read, write, listen and speak
