A brief description of the primary purpose of this job.
Responsible for developing/facilitating manufacturing training program according to organizational requirements. Designs training, maintains training documentation, conducts data analysis/needs analysis, and evaluates training through various assessment methods for assembly manufacturing processes.
Primary/major job responsibilities
Conducts training “needs assessment” by collecting/analyzing information pertaining to work procedures, work- flow, and reports.
Collaborates with internal stakeholders and subject matter experts to design training based on organizational need. Focuses on the learner by utilizing various training methods and media to support different learning styles (Tactile, Visual, Audio, Verbal).
Creates training schedules/classroom agenda and chunk/pace information appropriately.
Designs appropriate assessment tools and monitors employee response to training. Maintains training documents.
Facilitates classroom training; including workshops, individual training sessions, and “hands on” shop floor & classroom simulations.
Collaborates with supervisors to identify process efficiency improvements.
Creates visual work instructions and job aids.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma/GED, 1-2 Years’ Experience as an industrial trainer or professional experience in an education or engineering related discipline
Associates Degree, Technical Training Certification, Previous Experience in Manufacturing, Lean Manufacturing
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
Skills, abilities, or special licenses needed to perform the job (software, professional certifications, drivers’ license, languages, etc.)
Intermediate level MS Office & database software
Excellent communication, presentation skills
Organizational and time management skills
Knowledge of basic hand and measuring tools
Experience designing training materials utilizing various formats
Familiarity with traditional & modern training methods, tools, & techniques
Ability to read blueprints, technical manuals
Effective interpersonal skills
Ability to present complex information to a variety of audiences
Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills
Knowledge of basic assembly methods
Knowledge of instructional design theory & adult learning principles
Describe the level of decision making and extent that this job can structure objectives/activities and affect outcomes.
Collaborates with all levels of the organization (operations, engineering, support tech, quality, & safety) to develop training to impact business results and improve KPI’s (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost).
Potential exposure to heat, electrical and mechanical hazards, noise, solvents, dust, dirt, fumes, contaminants, cold, noise, vibration, etc.
